Timothy Ivey

AI Product Engineer

I'm a product engineer specializing in front-end development and UI/UX design. I care about how a product looks, how it works, and whether it makes sense to the people using it. I work across the stack, from early product decisions through launch, with experience in investment platforms, payments, and applied AI.

About

My background spans design, engineering, product development, and marketing. I started by building and commercializing real-estate search platforms, then worked on payment software at Sticky.io before co-founding eCIO, an investment advisory platform for nonprofits.

At eCIO, I built the marketing program and gradually took on more product and engineering work, eventually becoming VP of Product & Engineering at eVestech. That progression gave me experience with both sides of a product: understanding what customers need and building the software to support them.

Today I work AI-native. My process runs from research and specification through test-driven development, agent-driven implementation, automated review, and smoke testing, with human validation of architectural decisions at the end. Agents write most of the implementation code. I stay responsible for what reaches production.

I'm especially effective on small teams where I can work closely with people across the business and take a product from an early idea through delivery. I value that close collaboration and breadth of responsibility in a company of any size.

Experience

  1. eCIO / eVestech

    Dec 2019 – Sep 2026

Co-Founder · Investment advisory platform for nonprofits

Nonprofit fintech platform serving 125 clients across 31 states and $470M in assets under management, grown from its first customers.

    VP, Product & Engineering

    Sep 2025 – Sep 2026
    • Stabilized a declining production platform by taking hands-on ownership of product engineering and operations, fixing high-impact bugs, improving DevOps and monitoring, and establishing a dependable biweekly release cadence.
    • Built Alfred, a production RAG application that generates grounded, personalized first drafts of RFP responses in under an hour, replacing a manual process that consumed roughly half a day and helping the firm pursue more opportunities.
    • Built a self-service sub-accounting platform alongside investment advisors, translating complex unitized-accounting rules into one-click monthly reconciliation, spendable-balance tracking, and automated donor reporting. It became a major sales differentiator for nonprofits that need fund accounting.
    • Reverse-engineered poorly documented Schwab custodial data with AI agents, reconciling raw BigQuery records against 200+ account statements and six months of historical results to produce reliable statement-value calculations for sub-accounting and reporting.
    • Discovered a cross-client workflow bottleneck by observing advisors at work, then built Global Messaging, a centralized inbox with follow-up management and delivery analytics that helped drive a broader shift toward centralized CRM workflows.
    • Created an AI-native engineering workflow spanning research, specification, TDD, agent-driven implementation, automated review, smoke testing, and human architectural validation, with agents generating most implementation code while I retained responsibility for production outcomes.

    VP of Marketing

    Dec 2019 – Sep 2025
    • Built eCIO's marketing program from its first quarter, when the business had 11 clients. Worked across the company to onboard accounts representing $282M in assets under management.
    • Built and managed the marketing technology stack and designed the company's websites, PDF resources, and graphics.
    • Introduced AI tools across sales, client service, and operations. Took on increasing product and engineering responsibility before moving into the VP, Product & Engineering role.
  2. Sticky.io (LimeLight CRM)

    Apr 2015 – Nov 2019

Product Developer / Frontend Engineer · High-volume payments platform · Tampa/St. Petersburg, FL

    • Served as the primary frontend and UX specialist on a 10-developer team, modernizing a high-volume payments platform and introducing frontend testing in a financially sensitive production environment.
    • Introduced React into a legacy PHP application through an incremental migration strategy that let modern interfaces run alongside existing server-rendered code without requiring a full-platform rewrite.
  3. Tictonix

    Mar 2010 – Apr 2015

Founder / Developer · Real-estate search platforms and web development

    • Built and commercialized real-estate search platforms using RETS/IDX data, adding user accounts, saved properties, and saved searches. Grew the product to five brokerage clients using transaction-based and recurring-revenue models.

Selected work

01

Alfred: an RFP drafting assistant

I built Alfred to help advisors respond to requests for proposals. It draws on uploaded source material and relevant content from earlier RFPs to produce a grounded, personalized first draft in under an hour, replacing a manual process that took roughly half a day.

02

Global Messaging

Watching advisors work, I found a bottleneck in how they handled messages spread across client accounts. I built a centralized inbox with follow-up management and delivery analytics, and the cross-account approach behind it helped push the firm toward centralized CRM workflows.

03

Endowment reporting and sub-accounting

I built a self-service sub-accounting platform alongside investment advisors, turning complex unitized-accounting rules into one-click monthly reconciliation, spendable-balance tracking, and automated donor reporting. It became a major sales differentiator with nonprofits that need fund accounting.

04

Reverse-engineering custodial data

Schwab's custodial data was poorly documented, so I used AI agents to work out its structure, reconciling raw BigQuery records against 200+ account statements and six months of historical results. That produced statement-value calculations reliable enough to build sub-accounting and reporting on.

Stabilizing a declining platform

I took hands-on ownership of product engineering and operations for a platform that was sliding. I fixed the high-impact bugs, improved DevOps and monitoring, and established a dependable biweekly release cadence the team could plan around.

AI-assisted product development

I built the workflow used to deliver most eVestech production features. It runs from research and specification through TDD, agent-driven implementation in Claude Code, automated review, and smoke testing, with human validation of architectural decisions. Agents write most of the implementation code and I stay responsible for what ships.

07

React in a legacy payments platform

As the primary front-end and UX specialist on a 10-developer team, I introduced React into a legacy PHP application incrementally, so modern interfaces ran alongside existing server-rendered code without a full rewrite. I also brought front-end testing into a financially sensitive production environment.

Real-estate search platforms

I built and commercialized real-estate search platforms on RETS/IDX data, adding user accounts, saved properties, and saved searches. I grew the product to five brokerage clients using transaction-based and recurring-revenue models.
